  • It differs from state to state. In the state of indiana kids 4-8 and 40 pounds can be in a booster seat. But they have to be both, not one or the other.

  • They recommend keeping your child in a forward-facing 5-point harness until they won't fit in the straps anymore. About school age is when they can generally be moved to a booster.

  • you will need to check your state laws...a lot are 4 and at least is safest to use a harness until at least 4 since the spine doesnt even start fusing until then and there is a much higher risk of internal injuries with a booster seat. Please take a look at this website and watch the video

  • What is the hurry he is so much safer in a 5 point harness? I would keep him in it until the maximum that his seat allows.

  • my daughter is 4 years old, 32 lbs and 40-41in. She is still harnessed. her carseat is good up to 65lbs and 48 in. I plan on leaving her harnessed til she outgrows the seat b/c it is so much safer than a booster. i definitely wouldn't use one at 2.

  • age 3 and whatever the weight requirement is well thats how it is here.....

  • What seat are you using and what does it say as far as weight requirements? It is best and recommended to harness to the full capacity of your seat. Most states have the 4 years and 40lb rule to boost. child should be boostered at until they have outgrown almost every harnessed seat on the market. The Graco Nautilus will keep him harnessed until 65lbs and the Evenflo Maestro will harness to 50lbs.
