Math help please!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pre-Algebra

is -4 squared a positive or negative number?
I thought that if the (-4)squared then it was a positive but without parenthesis it would be a negative.

Help!!!!

The problem is -4squared - 12 =

  • Parenthesis help... if it is written as -4 it is the same as (-4). The only time you need to worry about it is if it is on the outside of the parenthesis such as -(4). Then the answer would of been -16. Good luck. I am great at algebra!

  • It's positive 4.....-4 * -4 = (positive) 16 // 16 - 12 = (positive) 4.
