What is the appropriate $ range to spend on gift for a 4-year old classmate?

My daughter is invited to a classmate's birthday party, who is turning 4. This is our first birthday party invite from a classmate. What is the customary $ range to spend on the gift?

  • I always spend $20-$25 inlcuding card and wrapping. If that is customary or right I do not know but sounds right to me.

  • Depends on the what the gift is. At my sons daycare they exchanged gifts for CHristmas i got her a Dora Mermaid doll which only cost 15, but i think it was a good gift soi wasnt worried about price. I wouldnt go over 30, hey i actually might not go over 20.
