What kind of gift should we get DD's boyfriend?

She's 16, he's 18. Been dating 6 months. Nice kid so I was thinking we should get him a Christmas gift? Suggestions? Was thinking gift card to McDonald's or another place?

  • See, I don't usually like to make them too comfortable for fear that they might stay! LOL!

  • A Best Buy gift card is def the way to go. That way he can buy cd's, video games, movies or whatever else he's into. Boys love that store!

  • I suggest a gift card to the mall or something...I know that is what my (now) husband liked when we were dating.

  • A gift card or movie tickets or something for his car or a baseball hat, if you know the right kind. My son loves hats but they have to be fitted and certain kinds or he won't wear them. If he likes baseball hats, a gift certificate to LIds.

  • I don't usually give my kids dates gifts. However I do help my child buy a nicer gift for their boy/girl friend. My son's girlfriend made it perfectly clear that she liked an expensive perfume. He got it I drove him to the mall and helped him find the best way to buy it. There were some special purchase with purchase deals going on.
I personally just help my kid more than get them a gift. I don't want to start with the obligatory gift thing.

  • I agree - a gift card of some sort (Ipod tunes, Best Buy, Mall). It's a nice present that isn't too personal. Makes me nervous to think about all this though. I have one sooo excited to be turning 16 next month. And I thought it was crazy NOW! LOL
