Did you loose your mucous plug before labor began? Or not...

Do you HAVE to loose it? Do some women not loose it.

What does it look like?

  • The mucus plug means absolutely nothing as far as oncoming labor goes. It is merely something that some women lose and others don't. That doesn't mean labor is around the corner if they do lose it either. All that means is that it fell out. With my first two children I never lost my mucus plug. I am currently 32 odd weeks with my third and haven't lost it yet with this one either.

The mucus plug is a big glob of mucus usually tinged with bright red or pinkish blood.

  • I didn't have one. I think it had something to do with the surgery I had on my cervix with both pregnancies.

  • I lost mine with my first child, although I didn't have him until like 3 weeks after I lost it. With my other 2 children I didn't lose it.

  • With my first I didn't loose it. My second I did and that afternoon I went into labor. With my third I did and 3 days later I went into labor.
