growth spurt???

my 11 month old is about to hit her 1 year old milestone in exactly a week from today! but the past few days she has been VERY difficult... constantly whining and being more sleepy than usual. she usually only took one 2-3 hour nap daily, and now she needs a nap in the morning, one in the afternoon and even sometimes one in the late afternoon, and still goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps til 7 am. im not complaining about all the sleep, but this has to be a growth spurt right? she's also very hard to keep full, and i think that plus her being tired alot is the source of her whining. she's touching everything now that she's not supposed to and the firm "No's" aren't working anymore, now i've had to resort to patting her hand to get her to stop. she's also been pooping like crazy, maybe 4 or 5 times a day! i havent changed anything in her diet. all this pooping has resulted in a horrid rash! teething could be the culprit as well.. she's already cut 8 teeth which seems like a lot for an 11 month old but who knows she could be getting more. she got 4 at once and then the other 4.. they come in in multiples!

  • Sounds like a growth spurt and/or teething. My son had a full set of teeth by that age. Also at that age their world has expanded quite a bit, especially when they are mobile, so it's common for them to get their paws on EVERYTHING lol. They are learning what everything is. You best bet is distraction, and redirecting their attention when they are being whiney or into everything. Best of luck hun, this too shall pass

  • welcome to the early pre-stage of terrible twos =) HAHAHAHA!

but really, .when she starts touching stuff that she shouldn't be touching, redirect her elsewhere, it will take awhile before she actually gets the hint she shouldn't be touching that, but don't give up! (man, i need 2 take my own advice!) sleeping is essential for growth, all means, let her sleep lol goodluck =)
