Insurance companies covering transgender surgeries

Basically by 2012 employers will be required to cover transgender surgeries in order to score 100% on the Corporate Equality Index. What are your thoughts on it?

  • I don't why they should be forced to provide that coverage. The person could buy their own coverage if they want that kind of surgery. Make sure to vote me down for having my own opinion.

I think is an idea who's time has come, so many transgenders living in hell because of the lack of resources, I am all for it.

  • I just don't get it, for me this is the same as cosmetic surgery - it's elective and if an insurance company wants to cover it, fine, but if not they should not be forced to.
