If a bitch in heat was mounted but is still bleeding now 4 days later, does that mean she is not pregnant? adult content

Our 8 mos. old male mounted our 3 yr. old bitch 4 days ago. She had been in heat about 3 weeks @ that time. She is still bleeding, so we are hoping that means she is not impreagnated...???

We were planning to mate them, but not till our male was fulgrown, and we worry the puppies, that might come from this mounting, will not develope right......

And let me just be the first to say we were not aware he could even mount her at his young age - guess we should have googled that when we desided not to have him fixed.....stupid us, I know!

  • Yes, your children should be very excited that you are adding to the pet overpopulation problem.
They should be very excited that their parents obviously know nothing about the breeding process so shouldn't be breeding their dogs under any circumstances.
They should be quite excited that the puppies could possibly die if the pregnancy turns out poorly, the mother could die, but hell it's really exciting.
You should fix the dogs...because you know nothing about breeding won't and more dogs will end up killed to make room for the pups your dog will have. Feel happy kids, feel happy!

  • That means nothing. Most female dogs bleed throughout the entire heat pregnant or not. In fact dogs have the ability to get pregnant multiple times in one heat by different dogs!

  • Go get her fixed NOW.

You have no idea about breeding, and you shouldn't be doing it without the knowledge to assist and help the dog if neccessary. You should know when, how, all the possibles, all the signs of it going badly.
You don't even know how they get pregnant.

Leave it to people w ho know, and hope your girl survives.

  • No rhianna, dogs bleed when they are in heat & ready to mate. Of course she could be pregnant!

Dog's reproductive organs are nothing like a human's.

  • Wow, Acid and Piskie: get a grip - it's a dog! They have had puppies on their own for centuries, so for you to put a death sentence on her is just a bit out there.

I already said we were stupid not to check the facts earlier, so for you to slam us further, say more about your heart than ours.

Just as in humans, it is unlikely that a dog will become pregnant while bleeding.
