Breasts feeling itchy?

I have a newborn (8 days old) and we are nursing well. I am experiencing itchiness in my breasts, not necessarily the nipple area, but the skin around them. Not unbearable, just don't remember that with my first two babies. Anyone have any input?

  • Yep , they are growing!! I dealt with this during my pregnancy with my second son when my breasts grew two cup sizes! I was miserable, I scratched them so much that they almost began to bleed. I was told to try to keep them moisturized with lotions and such so I would definitely try this if it gets bad enough. Mine eventually got so bad that I began using Sarna (a steroid-free anti-itch lotion), and it worked quite a bit better than any regular lotion.

  • Mine did that when I was pregnant and continued a while after I had my baby and I don't breastfeed. I guess it was my skin adjusting.
