Is it adult chicken pox?

My husband has a rash on his chest. Its very small but itches like crazy. He also has been more exhausted than usual and was very dizzy yesterday....he couldn't walk straight. Well, he just found out a coworker had many of the same symptoms and has some form of adult chicken pox I guess. My husband doesn't remember the medical term. My husband has had chickenpox as a kid,but we have3 kids that have not been exposed and show no symptoms either. any opinions?

  • Shingles? ANYONE can get Shingles, if they have already had chicken pox as a child. The only way to know is to call the doctor and have him checked out.

  • if he had chicken pox as a kid he shouldn't be getting them again. He should go in to see the doctor just in case what ever he has is contagious, and if he actually did get chicken pox, which I doubt if he for sure already them, adult chick pox can be deadly so I'd take him in. Maybe I'm extra cautious but you never know.

Sounds like when I got rubella, as a kid.

  • Shingles and chicken pox are not the same thing. If he hasn't seen a dr yet, he needs to make an appt.

  • Shingles are more painful, but they are caused by the same virus as the Chicken Pox and if your child has not been exposed or had the vaccine, they can get the Chicken Pox.

  • I agree with musicmom80. The pain can last up to a year and better. Do not sleep in the same bed. Keep to your own bath towels ect. Put your husbands towels in another room. Stress can bring this on as well. Take him to the doctor ASAP. Hope he feels better soon.
