Anyone else got a copycat preschooler?

When my son knows he's in trouble, he will copy anything you say and laugh. I have tried time out for this and also grounding from certain things, but nothing is working. It is so rude and disrespectful, that I really want to get it under control....SOON!

  • Than don't say anything to him. Just ignore him. Like he is invisible or not there. IF you don't say anything than he can't copy you. He will ask, why mummy doesn't talk to him. You can explain that you are not going to talk with a cheeky monkey. No-one likes to talk with rude and mean people. Or the other thing you can do: you can talk faster and long sentences. He can't repeat those. Or say a word that doesn't mean anything. So he can't repeat. He will be surprised. You can laugh a bit and you can explain why does his behaviour is not appreciated. The repeating game is so annoying but most of us who has siblings learn how to stop it:P Your son wants the control and he thinks he found yours:P Don't let him get the satisfaction:P You are the grown-up:) Just stay calm and be clever. Can you be cleverer than a 3-year-old?:P
