6 month baby poo is thick/black???

so my 6 month old started baby food about a week ago and was fine but yesterday seemed like he was a bit constipated and when he finally did go it was dark green almost black and very thick.....just constipated or something else?

  • It's just because you have started him on solids. What kind has he eaten?

  • If it was sticky thick you need to call your doctor, (Sticky thick like very very hard to wipe off)

  • mostly sweet potatoes and bananas it was hard to wipe why is it bad?

    Water, and a bit of OJ will see him right now that's he's eating. OJ is a natural gentle laxative, so only give it to him if he has problems pooping, just get him to drink more water. That'll help a lot.

  • call the ped office nurse will advise
    possible switch to oatmeal instead of rice cereal (or is it other way around-been a few years for me)
    possible switch in veggies
    bananas are good for when child has runns so it is binding

    call the nurse at ped office
    sounds like switch in foods, but call to make sure not something to go in for
    if they want to see child, might have to save the next poop diaper to bring in
