  • Absolutely! Whatever bug is causing your stomach ache will cause your body to create antibodies, those antibodies will pass through your breastmilk to your baby and help protect baby from getting sick. And if it was caused by something you ate, that can't pass through your milk to baby. Either way, nurse on!

  • Yes, and furthermore, you SHOULD always nurse when you are sick (as long as you are well enough to handle baby, obviously) because your milk contains antibodies to whatever illness you are suffering from, therefore, protecting your baby from whatever it is that you have. Baby may avoid the illness altogether, or still get sick but less severe then if you were not nursing, and of course, there is always the chance that baby will still get sick, and just as sick as if not nursing. But nursing your child when sick is one of the best things you can do for them. Make sure to take care of yourself though, and keep hydrated! Feel free to ask me anything else that is concerning you about this illness, or about any meds you might be considering to help your symptoms.
