I heard this on a morning talk show while taking my dd to bb practice....

Teachers should not accept friend request from students on facebook...agree or disagree...why?

  • agree, its overstepping professional bounds and there is no reason to take a professional learning relationship to a personal level

  • Agree. Teachers are supposed to be teachers, Professional people, NOT friends. I think Facebook is out of control, anyway.

  • Agree. A teacher should maintain a working relationship with a pupil at all times. If you start to see your teacher as a 'friend' then you start to respect them less, at least in my opinion. They are authority figures who are in charge of your class and your schooling as well as your emotional well-being whilst you are at school.

  • Ah! I am friends on FB with former teachers from both HS and college. During the time I was attending both they were never actually my friends on FB! I think its best if you kept your personal life and school life separate.

  • I agree I think you should keep your private life seperate from school life. Once you get beyond that time in your life then friend them all you want.

  • Agree. Because I think children will learn to much inforamtion they dont need to know about their teachers. I think they should keep the relationship to the classroom and not outside. I

  • agree. The chld/teacher relationship needs to STAY a child/teacher relationship and not become so close to a buddy thing... at least until the student is no longer a student.
