What is the average you pay for a babysitter?

I am looking into switching from a daycare to just babysitters and I'm wondreing what is an acceptable hourly rate? $8? $10? What do you think?

  • $8 to $10 is perfect for a teen or college student.

  • It depends on your area. I only charge 5.00 an hour and that is pretty common in my neiborhood.

  • I do licensed childcare so I don't know if my rate reflects properly but I charge $10/hr

  • I have 3 kids. I've never ever left them with a teen and don't think I'll ever be able to. When I pay adult friends or relatives to babysit, I pay $15 an hour.

  • I was a mothers helper and got paid 20an hour. But from what I hear around where I live now 10-15is average.

  • I work at an in home daycare and we charge a flat rate of 100 a week. Thats $20 a day.
