I wonder if/when a republican wins office in 2012 or 2016 if..

Alot of dems are saying that Obama's lack of success is due because he entered into Bush's mess and its going to take alot to clean it up. Repubs are saying that is ridiculous we shouldve seen change on day 1..

I wonder if the repubs do win and they seem to be lacking sucess the first couple of years if they will use the same excuse that the refute and say that Obama screwed the country so much and its going to take a while to get it where it was..

  • Oh my, there are so many ways I could answer this. I guess I'll go easy on you and ask that you name just 1 person who thought we should have seen change on day 1.
Never mind. We know you can't do that so how about this one.
Obama was the one who promised change and we did see it on day 1. It was and has continued to be all bad. Bush on the other hand, while I did not agree with some things he did during his 8 yrs, kept us safe after 9-11 and got us out of 2 different mild recessions. He and the Republicans also tried to get the Democrats to get their heads out of their asses long enough to realize what they were doing with Fand F and the housing situation was causing a bubble that would lead to nothing but trouble (as it did). You might as well face it. This recession was caused by many things starting way before Bush became President and it was no one person who caused it but... Obama is doing NOTHING to fix it.

  • preally mistik? He has accomlished ZERO? Someone needs to do some googling...

He Established Credit Card Bill of Rights, preventing credit card companies from imposing arbitrary rate increases on customers,
Health Care Reform Bill, preventing insurance companies from denying insurance because of a pre-existing condition, Tax cuts for up to 3.5 million small businesses to help pay for employee health care coverage, Added 4.6 billion USD to the Veterans Administration budget to recruit and retain more mental health professionals, Significantly increased funding for the Violence Against Women Act, Eliminated subsidies to private lender middlemen of student loans and protect student borrowers, Increased funding for national parks and forests by 10%, Significantly expanded Pell grants which help low-income students pay for college. That is something.

  • i hope the republicans do win because i believe that Obama has messed this country up so badly as well and all he wanted to do was be the first black man to be president. he has done nothing so far and has accomplished ZERO for the people.

  • He Established Credit Card Bill of Rights,

Around which they've already found a dozen loopholes

    Health Care Reform Bill,

Which they didn't bother to pay for, likely cannot constitutionally enforce, and will bloat the medicaid system beyond the breaking point (where it already is today)

Oh, and those pell grant changes - not exactly. Most people are seeing their financial aid package restricted, not expanded, and those grants have no impact on what your school sets as their aid limit cap.

  • Carpy, but Bush didnt? Comment by Anonymous

Translation:  Bush spending too much = bad.   Obama spending even more = good.

More of that fuzzy math I see.  I would have posted that response anonymously too.

  • I agree. See the problem with this country is everyone wants to complain about things-like the deficit, but then when the solutions are revealed they want to complain when any part of that solution affects them. This country hasn't had zero federal debt since the 1800s. The debt we have now has accrued over a long time. Yes Obama added to it.

The real question is, do you want to fix this deficit problem? Yes, then it's going to affect everyone, as spending will need to be cut AND revenue raised. if you can't handle the solutions, please stop complaining about the problems. Only makes you look like a cherry picker-
