Start them off on healthy eating now. Stay away from processed foods if you can. it's just as cheap and easy to cook with fresh ingredients. One of our favorite meals is turkey chili. It goes in the crock pot very well too. In the morning, brown 1 lb or so of ground turkey. Once the turkey is fully cooked, put it in the crock pot. Add in 2 cans of lower sodium kidney beans, 1 can of no salt added diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup of chicken stock, 1 packet of lower sodium chili seasoning, 1 chopped green bell pepper, and 1/2 chopped onion. Turn it on low, put the lid on, and let it cook all day, 6-8 hours. When you get ready to eat, make some quick easy cornbread. You just mix 1 cup cornmeal, 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup oil, and 1 egg. Mix it all up really good. Spray a 9" square baking dish with cooking spray. Pour the batter into the dish. Bake at 400 for about 20-25 minutes. its so yummy!
