Dupnik backpedals

This was a live interview on TODAY, so it's not online yet. The video should be on their website later on at some point during the day.

In a nutshell, Dupnik said Loughner was a disturbed individual, that he had no proof of any kind that he was influenced by anything he saw on tv or the internet, political or otherwise, and that he's not suggesting in any way that free speech should be tampered with.

So, since this was the "expert source" being touted that it was the extreme political rhetoric that was responsible for this tragedy, can we finally let that horse rest in peace? Or is there some new talking head with a shred of credibility who is taking up the torch of blaming? Considering even Brokaw wouldn't touch it and said the "rhetoric" is equal on both sides.

  • Even after it comes out that the shooter was more left leaning, described as a liberal pothead by people who knew him, the MSM still is playing the political points game. Shameful.

I'd ask you to provide a link to that, but we know how that works. You might want to reread this portion:

  • I think trying to blame it on politics was a knee jerk reaction by those who wanted this tragedy to be something more then it was. This was about a disturbed individual who slipped through the system and was able to carry out on a delusion in he had. This happens every day, maybe not to this extreme, but it happens. Will those who want it to be more let it lie? Nope. They have to make this more then it is. No idea why they want it to be more? Other then maybe they like the divisiveness it causes.

  • "It wasn't like he was in a certain party or went to rallies...It's not like he'd go on political rants." But Loughner did, according to Tierney, believe that government is "f***ing us over."

He definitely had political motive, but aparently he was pretty central, not leaning to either side. His political association doesn't matter though. What he believed in politically, has nothing to do with the fact that he's a lunatic.
