Do you pack a lunch, or does your child get school lunch? Have to vent.

So I have a friend that thinks her shit doesnt stink apparently. Well we had a conversation about school lunch. My kids eat school lunch, and breakfast...and I pay a small amount every week. Well, probably a little less than I would pay for making them lunch. The only days I pack a lunch is when they are going to be having something they dont like. I dont see anything wrong with it. So my friend says that she would never in a million years send her child without a lunch. Umm...she makes it look like I am not giving my child lunch. I dont know why people act like stuck up snobs, but I am really getting tired of it. If you pack a lunch for your child...ok...does that make you a better mother than me? lol. By they way, I shouldnt say "friend" she is more like someone I know.

  • Shes an idiot. Maybe she doesn't know the school has a cafeteria with a food line.

  • That is ridiculous. We know her shit stinks just like everyone else's. :) Only reason my kids take their lunch is because they chose to. If it was up to me, I would pay. It is so much easier.

  • My kids choose to either pack a lunch or eat at school and my high school daughter usually eats nothing because she doesn't like to pack her own lunch and doesn't like school food. Her choice. She does get a healthy snack when she gets home and she eats breakfast so I just don't worry about it. Kids won't waste away if they don't eat at school.

  • She's an idiot. Ok, that wasn't nice - but she is. My kids usually eat school lunch, sometimes breakfast. If they do pack their lunch because they don't like what's being served, they make their own (my older kids are 11 & 13). Ignore her.

  • Honestly I would clear the air. Speak to her direct and tell her you were offended by her remarks and ask her nicely, Say I have to ask you something maybe I took it out of contents but What were you implying when you said you would never send your kids too school with out there lunch? She might not have meant it that way, her kids my be very picky and don't like the school lunch. Or say Do you know something I don't know.....Some people word things and don't think before they speak. She might realize she sounded like an idiot and you didn't appreciate it...

My kids also eat school lunch and I pack there lunch when they don't like what they are having.

If you don't like it owell, I had school lunch too as a child...

  • each to their own. we take lunch at least 3 days a week, but some of the hot lunches the kids really like, and the school has gone to whole wheat, low-fat milk, fresh fruits and veggies, so i think they are doing well. What makes me sad is to see the kids with cold lunch that are eating a luncheable with chips, cupcake, juice, candy, and not a single fresh or healthy thing. But i would never say anything to my friends, it's not my place. I'm sure your kids are getting good nutrition at school, ignore her.

  • anon above me. what a low life. haha. STFU. filthy disgusting cafeteria food? Its woman like you, that I would love to just back slap upside the head. lmfao. Anyways, who cares what anyone thinks. Its all up to the parent, and the child weather they want them to eat school lunch or not. I do both.

  • I send mine with lunch sometimes, and sometimes she eats there. Most moms I know have their kids eat at school so I think this acquaintance just needs to prop herself up. She probably has low self esteem and takes pleasure in trying to find reasons why she is a better mom then people around her. Id ignore her.
I do pack lunch sometimes for mine mostly because her best friend takes a lunch and she says they get to sit at the table and talk longer. Gotta have your priorities I guess.

  • hahaha lets see... IF i packed my ds lunch all he would eat would be pb or bologna.. at his school lunches he eats fish chicken tacos its a COMPLETE balanced meal...all natural, no pre packaged food.. 1 meat 1 whole grain milk and 2 fruits/vegetables... i think thats MUCH better than a lunchable, which is what most other kids eat in my ds's class.... plus its pretty cheap... %2.25 a day

  • I wouldn't let my kids eat school lunch either, maybe that's what she was getting at. I don't think it makes someone a bad person for letting their kids eat school food, it's just not for my family. I like to give my children all natural (organic when I can) foods. My parents did not make us eat school lunch either......we always brought our lunch.
