2 Bumps

5 daily servings

Is it ok if I eat all my 5 daily servings of fruits and veggies all at once in 2 smoothies? I made a batch of pumpkin, carrot, strawberry, blueberry, and banana. Blended with OJ

  • It's ok. It doesn't matter when or how it went in...just that it did.

  • I've actually never thought of that before. That's an amazing idea! I think I'm going to do that right now. Then bam I can gorge myself tonight.

  • I noticed the same thing earlier this summer when everything was in season here - if I made smoothies, we'd drink 3 blenders full (nothing but fresh fruit & veggies and just a little water or 100% juice) in 10 minutes, but days I didn't make smoothies we didn't eat near as much fruit. Definitley easier to drink it than eat it sometimes!

  • Oh - and if you add some baby carrots & fresh spinach, you get some of your veggies in there too with no change to the flavor ;).

  • Another way to boost the benefits is to add afew teaspoons of wheat germ. I do this in the summer when the kids are a lot more likely to be eating some meals that are not exactly on the healthiest side of the menu. If you don't add too much at a time they never know it's there. Also to add a creammy element and decrease sugar..add plain yogurt or kefir instead of juices.

  • You need to eat some of those servings as whole foods because you get the fiber and roughage in there that cleans out the colon.
