  • I gave my son melatonin, but he was much older. It worked wonders though. Talk to your doctor.

  • Talk to your doctor. My son is on THREE sleep meds that still don't work and we have to have him seen monthly to try to fix this. It's a LONG battle but worth it once we find the right treatment.

I also had success with hypnotherapy.

  • In whatever way you enforce rules in your house you need to tell her that she HAS to stay in bed and be quiet. Explain to her that that is what happens at night. Even if she doesn't want to go to sleep she has to stay in bed and be quiet. Give her some mind games to run through at night. Make it an exercise. Give her a riddle before bed and tell her that she can only tell you the answer in the morning.

Also my mom gave me benadryl when I refused to sleep. Worked like a charm

  • Melatonin is a good choice. Also, although my son is not ADHD, he has trouble going to bed every night, sometimes on a really rough night, my husband or I will sit with him until he falls asleep (rub his back or hair or something). It helps him calm down so he can fall asleep.

  • Best thing to NOT do is look for medication. If she already has kidney issues and still has ADHD then its best to just work with how she works.
