what do your kids take to school for lunch?

i have ALWAYS found lunch to be the hardest thing to feed her (shes 6)..she doesnt like cheese..she doesnt like ham (or any kind of deli meat) she loves peanut butter, but cant take it to school..she wont eat egg salad..she will eat tuna..but thats not good to have EVERY DAY!! same with hot dog sandwiches..she loves, but thats not healthy to eat every day either!! as a treat once a week, i will get her a chicken nugget lunchable..which she LOVES but, i cant afford those every day! she takes soup, once in a blue moon..uuugh its so frustrating!! LOL

  • Sandwich, yogurt, fruits (every day different), water bottle, cheese strings (not the normal cheese but the funny one:) Sometimes some snacks. I don't really bother too much for lunch because we always have nice cooked meal for dinner. So the lunch is not the main meal during the day.

  • It sounds to me as though she wouldn't mind the hot lunches they serve in school since she really isn't interested in things that go into a sandwich.

  • Just give her alot of snacks she likes. There doesn't have to be a sandwich or 'main course', as long as she is eating something.

Pretzel goldfish, carrot sticks, watermelon, apple sauce cups, graham crackers, any kind of crackers.

So you mix it up, tuna one day, hot dog sandwich another, chicken nuggets, then two days of just snacks.

What about once in a while getting a lunch from school?

  • my son likes the same thing every day if he can have it --salami and mayo sandwich, juice, yogurt, applesauce and chips at times we shake it up with jello raisens, pudding and such _

  • Most days, my daughter brings a thermos with leftovers, or with whole grain pasta and veggies and some kind of sauce (like cheese, peanut, marinara).

I have a huge list of bagged lunch ideas that I have collected over the years; send me a message if you would like a copy

  • My son loved dry cereal in a ziploc bowl. He got milk at school. I added yogurt, graham crackers and juice or water. He also loved cold pizza and mac and cheese in a thermos. I have even done Ramen Noodles in the thermos. Now he is in high school and only eats hot lunch. He gets chicken wings, chicken sandwiches (grilled), salads.
