WYR say "thanks" or "thank you"?

I prefer "thank you".

  • I prefer to say "thank you" but I don't care if others just say thanks. I'm just glad when anyone bothers to actually express appreciation at all!

  • Finishing my last week at work, this reminds me of the millions of times I've debated this question in work emails. I always say 'thank-you' when it is more formal, to my superiors or peers outside of my office.

  • I guess it depends upon the circumstances... I feel thank you is more appropriate if someone has given you something or done something big - I say thanks if it's like one of the kids picking up their clothing or toys, etc.
