Ok im sorry but i dont think people should be able to plead insanity when in trouble for something they did. Obviously your insane for going and shooting up a school, or a congress meeting. Obviously your insane if you can kidnap a young child and rape and murder them, so on and so on. So why should they get the right to say they are insane just so they get off alittle easier. It takes a person who is insane to do those things. I believe they should face the death penalty or sit in prison the rest of there life not be able to sit in a physc ward because they wana play the im "insane" card. Am i unreasonable? or do you think like me?Answer Question

Most of the time, you have to prove you are (or were) insane at the time you committed the crime. You can't just plead insane and you get off or have a reduced sentence. There is a process to it.

I think most people who commit violent crimes are crazy but not insane. I think paranoid schizophrenia is a serious mental condition that does distort reality for the people who have it. I think they should be found guilty, but insane. They are still very dangerous if they have committed violent crimes in the past and should be away from the public. Mental illness can be very serious, but not treated very well in this country. Many people are ignored until something bad happens.
