how often do you serve fruit as a dinner side rather than veggies?

or do you serve both?

i usually just serve veggies. but tonight - we're having mesquite chicken, crescents, and cheddar broccoli noodles. i have some fruit cocktail and i think it will go great with the sweet and savory flavor of the mesquite chicken. so no veggies here tonight. i know my kids will eat the fruit anyday over the veggies! so atleast there hopefully wont be any leftovers. i think i might have only done this once or twice - but definitely want to start doing it more often.

  • My kids would not just go to the kitchen to eat fruit but if I had things like melon, apples, grapes, bananas, mini bananas, mini oranges, after the dinner meal they eat tons of eat. Or I have breakfast night with pancakes or french toast, sauagage or bacon and then add fruit that is the favorite meal of the week.

  • I don't think I have ever served fruit with dinner. I send it for lunch at school and he has fruit for snacks so I never thought about having it for dinner as well.

  • Most nights. We're not a big veggie family. We do serve veggies but it's easier to get lots in with 4/6 fruit a day and 2/6 veggies.

  • unless it's summer and crazy hot I've probably never served fruit at dinner. I know they need a few servings a day but they get 2 at breakfast alone (juice plus a fruit) and almost always applesauce w/ lunch.

After dinner, though, we do berries as a dessert alot

  • My 15-month-old almost always gets fruit for dinner.

  • It just depends on what we are having, there are some meals that veggies don't seem to go with (spaghetti) so we will have a fruit salad or applesauce.

  • Rarely. My son only eats apples and that gets really old after a while.

  • It's more of a lunch or breakfast side for us. We very rarely do fruit with dinner.

  • Maybe once a week I will do applesauce or fruit cocktail with my kids' dinner. Other than that, I use fruit mostly for snacks in the afternoons. I don't really get hung up on the "whens" of it all long as they're getting all the vegetables and fruits they need, I'm okay with it.
