What type of events would you hire a makeup artist for?

I have only been asked to do makeup for weddings and birthdays. But I like doing up my makeup even for going out to dinner - when would you pay for your makeup to be done by a pro?

  • Weddings, prom, pictures, date nights, graduation. Can't think of anything else. If you are selling makeup then you can have a little makeup party where you show tricks of the trade. My mom used to go to those all the time and never would take me :-(

  • I'm thinking about hiring one for my wedding, but other than that, I don't see a reason to hire one.

  • I depends on how much it costs. I can't afford to pay an arm and a leg just for fun. It would be nice though.
