Do you think overweight people are miserable?

I was talking to a friend today and she believes people with weight issues are all miserable.

  • I am overweight and not miserable. I am not happy with my weight sometimes but it doesn't affect every aspect of my life.

  • Like everyone else on the planet, they have miseries, but are no more likely to consider themselves (or appear to be) miserable than anyone else.

I've known a number of clearly chronically-uncomfortable, pinch-faced Thin and Perfect people...

  • I can't speak for all of them but quite a lot of them are. Being overweight cases a multitude of problems. A lot of ppl in my extended family are.

  • I am overweight by about 20 lbs and I have days where i am miserable and hate myself, but there are other days when I have never felt sexier.

  • Nah. There are some, I'm sure, that are miserable, but I'd say it has less to do with weight than it does regular everyday life stuff. My closest friend has always been heavy-ish, but A) she looks SOOO weird skinny, B) when she's thinner her back hurts worse (she's a 36H), and C) she has the most problems out of her blood sugar when she's my size or closer to her biggest size. She's just all around healthier and happier when she's about a size 12-16. Actually most of the heavier people I know are happier than the thin ones, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

  • I don't think they are any different then the general population!! I am in the "normal" weight range for my age/height but I have days where I am miserable. I think there are just as many skinny people who are miserable!

  • I personally am overweight, and not miserable. I don't get winded chasing after my stepdaughter, and I'm not lying about it. Most diseases like heart problems, diabetes, etc, actually run in my family, whether your skinny or not, so even if I was thin, I'd still be at risk for them. Do I exercise? Yes. Do I eat healthy? Yes. It's true that some people absolutely obsess and are miserable over their weight, but I'm not one of those people. I have someone who tells me I'm beautiful regardless of what I look like, and as long as I have that support I don't really need anyone else's opinion.

  • I'm overweight and don't feel miserable but sure like to be skinny but probably not going to happen but want to lose weight to be healthier.
