what should i do?

my toddler (2 1/2) has been recently diagnosed as slow. he looks completely normal. but is delayed I feel so bad. I was told it wasnt anything i did because i didnt drink or smoke but it was genetic. I do feel tho it was something i did. how do i cope with his disability?

  • Stop blaming yourseld, it is not important what caused it, but what is done is done, you need to focus on how to help him, not on being guilty. It really wont change anything. Good Luck!

  • It is not your fault and you need to try and get over that so that you can help your child the best way you can. Do everything you can to help him and give him the best life he can have.

  • don't blame yourself. But there are things you can do now that you know. There are services (usually available through public schools or health dept) that can help you work a little harder to help your child advance more. Don't focus on how, it's not somthing you did, so you may never know (genetics don't have all th answers either). Just love him and know that he's going to have strenghths and weaknesses in his growth.

  • Try and get him in some sort of Early intervention program offered by your county....
