  • Haha, this is a major source of contention in my house. If I load the dishwasher, they are up. If hubby loads it, they are down. They seem to get just as clean either way. ;)

  • I was told up as the water has better access to clean them better. Ours go up except the really sharp knives that go down.

  • Up except for the sharp knives. The machine where I live doesn't clean the best and feel facing down they just may not get clean enough.

  • Same here. SO puts them up n I put them down. I never get poked but then I put them away first for that reason. I don't want it to dull the blade.

  • Up, unless it's a sharp knife. Our dishwasher manual recommends putting them up.

  • Well, i was also told that they wash better if pointing up. But, in all honesty..i don't care. If they land up, then they're getting washed up. If they land down, they're getting washed facing down. I really don't care.
