Alaina or Elaina?

I want to name my DD after my grandma who passed away, Elaine. I don't really like it without the "a" at the end. I was thinking I could name her after both my dad, Alan and my grandma with the spelling Alaina. Do you think it makes sense? Which spelling do you like? Either way we will call her Laney.

  • Elaina Alynn :0)

I like it better with an E but the Reasoning for using an A is nice and it isn't an unusual way of spelling it so there would be no mistakes with how to say it.

  • I guess it depends on which pronounciatoin you like best. With Alaina you get the "uh" at the beginning and with Elaina you get the "ee" at the beginning. I personally LOVE your idea of combining your dad's name and your grandma's name. That's very sweet. I love both spellings too. But definitely love the idea behind Alaina.
