Remodel or new house?...

I want to buy another home, it was built in the 70's and it shows. It sits on a big parcel of land and is ocean waterfront high bank. I love the idea of a total remodel, I think it would be fun as all get out to do this house. Hubby is concerned about living in it while working on it.

The house we have now we got new last year.

I am torn. What would you do?

  • If you love the setting, which sounds great, I think you're better off to remodel, but it's not fun. The hardest part for me was having no kitchen, so I set up coffeemaker, toaster, microwave in a mini kitchen in the dining room. It gets old eating out every meal.

  • I would buy the house and remodel the kitchen and bathrooms before you move in. Those are the hard remodels to live through. The rest are inconvenient, but livable.

  • Sounds like the remodel would be awesome when it is done BUT living in the house while it is being remodeled is very stressful. If you choose to go that way be aware of what you are up for.
Building a new house was all difficult as you were always needing to check the work being done. In the end it was great.

  • If you really like the property you should go for it., but I would not suggest living in the house while doing it. that does not sound like fun. Maybe if you atleast remodel the bathroom before moving int.
