How many days to make or break a habit?

We were discussing this at work and I felt like 10 days was plenty of time. What are your thoughts?

  • A life time. Reason why, the pleasure experience associated with the habit is a big reminder. Not to forget how many addictive chemicals are in cigarette smoke that makes cigarettes as addictive as heroin. And, people who have tried to quit have said that the urge returns around three months of going smoke-free. A friend who hasn't drank (DUI) for close to twenty years still admits addiction.
