How long does the first period last after you have a baby?

I had my baby 4 months ago. Yesterday, I started my first period in a year. :( How long can I expect this to last? Same as prior to pregnancy or a lot longer?

  • I just started my first period after giving birth. I am on day 3 so far, and the heavy bleeding & cramps just started.

  • That greatly depends on your body. It can last anywhere from a couple of days to a week.
