Garlic alternative?

I love to cook with garlic... but it never sits well with me after I eat something with garlic in it. Can anyone suggest an alternative flavor/spice/seasoning that is healthy but more gentle?

  • If you roast garlic, it's supposed to make it milder, maybe that would help? Or, shallots are kind of a cross between an onion and garlic, more oniony than garlicy. What about garlic powder/salt? Does it affect you the same way?
