if your legally separated can the other party sign ur name to documents?

  • Legally you can not sign for anyone else. If you have power of attorney then you can sign your own name in place of the person you have power of attorney over, but you legally can NEVER sign someone elses name. Does that mean people don't do it all the time? No, but it is not legal.

  • Not with out your permission. If they are signing your name without consent then they can get into some major trouble if you report it.

  • I don't think even if you are married you can legally sign your spouses name on documents unless you have some sort of power of attorney

  • Even if they had power of attorney, they would be signing their name in lieu of yours. It is never legal to sign someone else's name.
