Mashed potatoes: from box or scratch?

Which are better tasting in your opinion, I say from scratch even though the box is easier to make

  • if you use an electric mixer, they're never lumpy.

    Always from scratch, even when i worked outside the home. I don't see why it's so hard, just boil potatoes, add butter, salt & cream, turn the mixer on & there ya go. Easy as pie.

    I put cream cheese in mine.

  • Scratch is always better no matter what you're cooking. However, I do use instant potatoes when I'm pressed for time.

  • Scratch is better but when you are starving and there is nothing else instant will taste pretty good.

  • I always made them from scratch but I have now used the box. I use real cream and sour cream in them instead of water or milk. I don't use as much liquid so they aren't as running and they do taste really good.
