whats going on with my 18 month old daughter??

My 18 month old daughter is an amazing eater...always has been. Suddenly today she isn't eating. She had a few bites of toast for breakfast. I tried some fruit and she turned it down. Lunch she had half a nutrigrain bar and wouldn't even touch anything else. And wont snack right now. She's been drinking plenty though. She doesn't appear to be sick, she's still running around and playing and no fever or cold. She's got 16 teeth already soi don't think its teething (I know what its like when she teeths) the only other weird thing is that she woke up crying this morning and from her nap which is completely out of characteristic for her. Any thoughts or suggestions??

  • i would guess teething, but she might just have a little tummy ache or something...but you could always call her doc if you needed to.

  • Kids have 'slow eating days' every few months. I wouldnt worry about it if doesnt last more than 2-3 days. Kids will have 'bad sleep days' 'whiny days' 'sleepless nights' even if its out of ordinary

  • My 18 month old just started this today as well. I think its just a bug going around, making them not want to eat.

  • If I remember correctly that was around the age my son started not eating as much. Give it a day or two and see if she starts eating better. At 27 months, my son still only eats good part of the time.

  • My daughter does that every few months. She's 18 months old too. It'll last a day or three, then she picks right back up to eating everything in sight. IMO, I wouldn't be too concerned.

  • Could be a growth spurt DD does this when ever it happens or teething..

  • My daughter just had a virus similar to this. She had no temperature. And for the most part seemed okay. She didn't eat anything but a few bites for like 2 days. She did end up getting sick (physically). This passed and she is good now. Maybe your daughters stomach doesn't feel good. I would definatly have her see a dr though if it persits beyone 2 or 3 days.

  • Thanks everyone! She did eat better for dinner, I made her favorite (that way if she didn't eat I knew something was up!) I will just keep an eye on her!
