  • Our pedi told us never to give water unless they directed us to do so

  • Babies don't need water its just something to drink that fills them up, stick with breastmilk and/or formula until they are older. Do not give a baby who isn't even a month water.

  • Water is a HUGE no no at this age. He needs to get all his nutrients from breastmilk or formula. If he is having a hard time peeing then call your doctor. DON"T GIVE HIM WATER! Doing so can cause malnourishment at this young age.

  • I have never heard of giving water to a child before 6 months and even then it is very small amounts. Most of the time it isn't recommended before 1 year. Drinking water makes the baby feel full and then they do not drink the formula/bm as much as needed.

  • Our doctor recommends you start giving an ounce of water at a time around 1 week of age. Water will help to keep down gas levels and keep baby hydrated, especially if mom's nursing and not getting enough water herself...
