How many C-sections can one woman have?

I am 37 weeks pregnant, and I don't plan on having a c-section, unless this baby becomes 2 weeks overdue. But I was just wondering, how many c-sections can one have, how many have you had. Please no "educated guesses" just facts, and experience please :)

  • Depends on the woman.
    I've had 5 (in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006 and 2010).
My doctor only highly suggested I stop having kids but didn't forbid it. I think I could handle one more but I didn't want to push my luck (mostly because I was so exhausted the last pregnancy, the surgery went without a hitch and I felt great 2 weeks later).

  • I have had 3.... if I could have more was a mute point since I got my tubes tied.

  • I have had 2 so far myself, but it really depends on the type that you get, bikini cuts you can have a lot but the old fashioned way is limited to 2-3.

  • Doctors recommend to have three, but I am sure you can have more but it is not wise.

  • I don't think there is any official limit. Some doctors feel comfortable doing more than others. Even if you have one it doesn't mean you can't have a vaginal birth the next time. Also, with each c/s the risks increase.
