federal tax

i just noticed that on my paystubs i have little or NO money taken out for federal tax. what the heck is going on here?

  • It's because of Obama's tax cut. The tax cuts are $1,000 for couples and $500 for individuals. Instead of seeing the money at Tax season when you file, you get to have more in your paycheck throughout the year.

  • alot depends on how much your check was for. If it was a small check they won't take anything out, but if it was a good sized check i would talk to your employer it may have been a mistake made by them and you sure wouldn't want to pay for a mistake someone else made.

  • Before you make any changes to your w-9, I would talk to your HR manager. It could be something as simple as a mistake.

  • It is going to depend on how much you make. If you don't owe a ton of money when you file, then maybe claiming 2 is enough.

    We use this site to estimate how much will owe/get back. So far it's been super accurate. Hope it helps:
