  • There are soothing gel packs specifically the breastfeeding that you can buy,Lanolin will probably help too. I used to wear nursing pads all the time just because any clothing rubbing on my nipples would irritate them. Good luck, and remember it might take a little bit but they will get better!

  • Do you have Lansinoh? That helped me immensely...also, this sounds funny, but you should let them air dry after bfing...

  • Solving the problem causing the soreness. It's usually a shallow or incorrect latch. Go on youtube and search for "Ameda latching video". If that doesn't help, see a La Leche League leader or IBCLC.

Nothing really helped me except healing, and I couldn't heal until my babies were latching right.

    Good luck!

  • Try rubbing some of your milk into your nipples and letting them air dry. It works wonders.

  • Ask your doctor for triple nipple cream. It's common to have sore nipples! Mine were cracked & bleeding & so sore in the hospital they got me cream there! That worked wonders for me! They could be sore for up to 2 weeks or so(they were for me), but don't give up! You can do it! :)

  • Sore nips are normal when you first start to BF. Even with my 6th baby, after I was sure mine were tough as nails, I ended up with them. It'll get better. :D

Lansinoh was my saving grace! It's totally safe for the baby, so there's no need to wipe it off before you feed him. Also, check to make sure your Little One is properly latched on as an improper latch can make your nipples even more sore. Air drying in between feedings is an excellent suggestion, too.

Congratulations on your new arrival. Don't be discouraged.

  • Lansinoh from Target. It comes in a purple box. Goop it on thick and hang in there! They will feel better soon!

  • First, be certain your latch is right. Get in touch with an IBCLC or LLL leader so they can check. Breast milk, left to air dry, is good to soothe sore nipples. Lansinoh IS good, but *I* prefer Motherlove Nipple Cream. I've only been able to find it online, though a friend recently told me she found it at her local Whole Foods. Soothies are good as well. How sore are we talking? Uncomfortable, slightly painful, unbearable...
