  • When I was in the U.S. Army, it was 4 months. 2 mos. basic training, 2 mos. AIT

  • It depends on the MOS. My husband was infantry and his basic and AIT were together so it was 14 weeks total. However, he was there for 18 weeks because the first four weeks he spent waiting around for it to start because there were not enough people to start. Typically though basic is 10 weeks long and AIT can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 52 weeks.

  • It does not matter what your MOS is in the Army, IET (inital entry training, or Basic) is 9 weeks. It depends on what MOS you choose for the length of the AIT. Min was 10 weeks for a wheeled vehicle mechanic. DH did OSUT (One Station Unit Training) where you do all of your training at one time. DH is a Cavalry Scout and his osut was 16-17 weeks long.
