Isn't it time to end ....

... our dependence on oil? OPEC has declared that the world market can handle $100 a barrel for oil. Wouldn't it be in the interest of ALL Americans to find a cheaper fuel alternative?

  • Of coarse everyone is interested in it but it's not cheap to go green with your car.

  • I agree with mommy of two, gas is expensive but getting a 'green' car is more expensive. I hybrid version of my car costs 17K more.

  • I'm not even speaking specifically about hybrids - I'm not talking about CHEAPER alternatives. I read somewhere that there is a bacteria whose by product either mimics fossil fuel, or is fossil fuel. I've also heard that hemp can be an cheap and highly renewable energy source. Diesel can be made using vegetable oil. Right now OPEC has a monopoly on the market. The way to get OPEC to bring their prices down is to create competition for fuel sources.

  • you mean like OIL from the United States?

Even with oil from the US, the oil goes onto the world market. OPEC (The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is the governing authority.
