what age did you notice your childs left/right handedness?

  • I noticed when he was drawing, he draws only with his right hand, sometimes he tries the left and then switches, he's 14mos

  • my child favors right when drawing, but still trys left 40% of time
    did puzzles at library, 100% with left hand
    she is three and a half
    has autism, so her brain is wired differently

  • He didn't figure it out until he was in 1st grade. He used both hands until then. We never knew which hand he would use.

  • DS was a lefty until he went to school, at which time he swtiched to being right handed and has been ever since.

  • My older 2 kids were righties by about 3.
    My youngest was a lefty from about 15 months. Still is and always will be (about to turn 6.)

  • I noticed my daughter favored her left hand pretty early on, around a year or so. She's almost two and still uses her left to feed herself, pick things up, when she "colors," etc. Her dad and I are both left-handed so it worked out nicely. LOL.

  • My DD is mostly right handed now, but uses both when the moment suits her.

  • My son uses both hands. He mainly uses his right hand but he has Athetoid Cerebral Palsy, so if his r hand gets tired he uses his left.

  • When he was about 6 months he started sucking his left thumb. He's almost 3 now and he will usually use his left hand to eat or draw, but if I I put the fork/crayon in hisright hand he'll use that one too. He's been pretty consistant since 9 months useing his left.
