So my 4yr old is literally crying because im making him play w/his toys!

What did i do wrong, i never had anything growing up, so of course i give my kids everything i could have ever wanted, he has his tv,dvdplayer& dvds, xbox& kinect, so i told him "no more tv or games go play w/your toys" I mean i know its my fault but enough is enough, he is so ungrateful& i did this to him. Now he is crying, he has good toys, nice toys but he wants electronics& gadgets. Anyone else going through the same w/their kids?

  • No. We always limited electronics to 1 hour on Saturdays, so we have never dealt with anything like that. My son is 4.

  • No. We limit the time with electronics on a daily basis. I would just take it all away until he can learn to appreicate it.

  • He is not crying because you are making him play with his toys. He is crying because he can't just sit and watch tv or play video games. Kids need to have the time they spend on electronics limited. Too many of them would just sit there for the rest of their lives.

  • Try to enforce things like movie time, toy time, reading time, game time, etc on a daily basis instead of just letting him do as he pleases. Routine & consistency are key! GL!

  • You just need to set limits now before it gets out of hand. Maybe 30 min of video games or tv a day or only on certain days. If you dont do something now it will only get worse.

  • I limit my 3.5 YO's TV time & shes not allowed to play video games yet. I think she is WAY too young to be sucked into that crap.....................

  • Nope because I always have limited the amount of time my children spent on electronics.
