My garlic turned blue......

Has this ever happened to you? I am cooking lemon garlic chicken with broccoli, peppers and onions in the crock pot. I just checked it and the garlic is BLUE!! A baby blue shade, but still BLUE! Garlic pretty much goes into almost everything I cook and never before have I seen this happen. Weird. I already looked it up and it's not a big deal, just a reaction of the sulfur compounds.

  • That happens pretty often when cooking with certain herbs or wine. It's not dangerous, and it doesn't happen every time, which is probably why you haven't seen it happen before. It's just something that happens to garlic at a particular stage of ripeness, when it comes into contact with certain herbs (I can't off the top of my head remember what specific herbs).

  • If it's due to sulfer, it's the broccoli making it happen. No biggie.
