  • 10 months very early
    look for signs like
*******does child point?? ***** this pointingis natural to do for typical child=excellent first sign, had to teach mine to point (autism)
does child stare at lights or fans going around and around
does child cringe from close touch, seem to like firmer touch, less liking of gentle touch
eye contact (hard to judge as parent you are not the most objective)
if any doubts get referralfrom ped to a birth to three therapist
    but speech alone=no worries mommy

  • Perfectly normal at this point. As long as there aren't gross motor delays this is nothing to worry about.

  • Don't worry. My son didn't say anything at all for a long time. I was worried something was wrong, but he just started up one day and then picked things up really fast. Kids all learn at different paces, so let him/her take time. Maybe he/she is more into motor skills at the moment, so is distracted from the talking.
