Last summer I had big ants, i think they were carpenter ants. now in winter, they are gone. Do you think they'll be back? did they die off?

  • if you didn't treat the colony then they are probally hibernating

  • Most likely hibernating and will be back. I have been having the same problem with the small ones in my kitchen.

  • They are more than likely going to come back. They can do considerable expensive harm. Research it on google and take steps to get rid of them permanently. Be careful to not be taken in by scam artist exterminators. Research and references.

  • In the spring spread a mixture of sugar and borax or boric acid where you saw/see them. It will take care of them inexpensively. You have too reapply after a rain.

  • They'll be back. In early spring. Call an exterminator.
