is it true that youre not supposed to put wooden spoons in the dishwasher?

i heard this somewhere a while ago...but i still do..LOL

  • I believe it's because they can become cracked. You also shouldn't let them soak for an extended period of time in the sink. Food particles get stuck in the cracks and they never really get clean again. Hope that helps.

  • So here's what I heard: The extreme heat of the dishwasher can cause small crack in the wooden spoons, which can then become the perfect place for bacteria to grow. Same thing with wooden cutting boards. I never put wooden anything in my dishwasher (when I had one).
