  • We were a little disappointed in Key Largo. There was not much for us to do. It's not on the real ocean, so no waves. It is good for snorkeling, but we had small children and didn't do that. We took a day trip to Key West and that was great. Lots to do there.

  • Near Key Largo is Theatre of the Sea and a Dolphin program. Dolphin Research Center is halfway down the keys too. Key Largo is a nice mellow key with some good dining. Islamorada (basically) has Cheeca Lodge (very nice) and Hawk's Cay Resort nearby. Reviews are hit and miss but the places look very nice. We stayed in Key Largo and also in Key West (which we love--third visit). Most of those keys offer sunset sails/snorkeling/diving. Largo is so close to Miami, I'd just go to Key West. It's geared toward entertaining and it's a unique and fun place. Lots of dining, bed and breakfasts, hotels, music, shopping, a couple nice little beaches. Check out Southernmost Hotels. We were just there, if you need more advice.
